The best adress for news in Scandinavian Design ist the furniture fair in Stockholm.
Design for Kids has a long tradition in Scandinavia, Hans Wegner from Denmark designed in the 40's Peter's Chair and Peter's Table and Verner Panton, also Danish, designed the Panton Junior in the 70's, which is lately manufactured by vitra.
First we discovered „Collect Furniture" by Frederic Collette, who launched the A-Collection for kids:
The A-series is built up around the inclined sides of the letter A.
These angles give stability, so that children cannot easily tilt the furniture. But these angles also enable A-Chair to be stacked in an elegant way. At the same time, this gives room for a drawer below the seat, where children can put toys and things. The stacked chairs form a practical chest of drawers. Furthermore, the drawers are equipped with magnets, so that they do not open while moving A-Chair. A-Chair and A-Table are suitable for children 3-10 years old.

Offecct launched a creative play space for children:
Anders Breitholtz's Playhouse lets children be children and play on their own terms.
Good, high quality and fun furniture was presented bay OFFECCT with its playful Pick Up back in 2003 and its product Flower. Lately, young designer Anders Breitholtz was given free rein to develop a proposal that works in offices and other settings when mum and dad are busy doing other things.
The solution was developed through play. The idea behind Playhouse is that children can use a few basic components to create an endless number of versions.

Heirloom presented a very similar chair-table combination with almost the same name. But we found that the A-Series (!) is not as well-designed as the A-Collection, and that's why we are just showing their Bunny-Box here. The Bunny-Box is a storage box in two sizes with rabbit ears in leather on the lid. It is meant to work both as a storage for toys and as extra an seating place – but where can you sit between all those ears?

Micki, a Swedish Manufacturer, presented colorful kid's furniture with funy animals and bright colors. We liked the stool and the Rocking-Zebra!

In the Greenhouse young designer presented their work. Alexander Lervik made a great success with his exhibition "Enlightenment" where we discovered the "Sense" light swing. It is made from plastic with fibre optic lighting inserted. At dawn or at night the swing creates a spectacular light show that lights up a whole garden in the most beautiful way.
