Abstract dolls with traditional turkish motifs
In Turkey you should bring a gift for the kids along, when you are invited to a families home. The Kapali Çarsi, the Grand Bazaar, is shopping district with thousands of stores. Linda Caldwell's store is one of the few among them, where to find a special gift. She started her store Deli Kizin Yeri in 1998 when she and her husband retired to Istanbul. The products are a new interpretation of traditional handcrafted arts, some of them using needle lace (oya) from village ladies in the Tarsus Mountains, kece items from a village cooperative, and dolls from a women's group in Iznik.

Christmas decoration
At the Istanbul Design Week, which took place in the great setting of the morbid charme of old Galata bridge, we were impressed by a fibre glass hammock. Though it looks stiff, the frame is flexible.
The „leaf hammock" is weather resistant and can be kept outside-at least during summer.
Designed by Pinar Yar and Tugrul Gövsa.
