Haus Hirt, a hotel with a sophisticated history

Hotel Haus Hirt is like a big private house.
It is open to all – old and young, singles or families, gays or honeymooners – who like the familiar feel and open atmosphere of a mixed clientele. Tolerance in a stylish ambience is a key feature of the four star hotel.
This tolerance has a long tradition.
Built in 1924, Haus Hirt welcomed guests such as Stefan Zweig and Somerset Maugham. At that time, just as it is today, it was much appreciated by free thinkers and people who incorporated the spirit of the age. Evelyn Ikrath took over the hotel after finishing her training in London and New York with her architect husband Ike Ikrath. They designed the house together with artists and interior designers they knew. The result is an interesting mix out of a classic twenties hotel and a modern designer hotel.

Urban lifestyle and design suites in the midst of breathtaking nature

Through a wonderful combination of child-friendliness and adult-friendliness which does not give in to adventure park clichés with life-size Mickey Mouse figures, Haus Hirt combines an aesthetic setting with a service offer that gives parents time to themselves and keeps the kids happy too. Moving away from the classic adventure family hotel where the staff use baby language, the Ikraths have successfully managed to create an upmarket, generation-spanning designer hotel which offers city folk luxury, style, wellness and a gourmet experience – and all that in the midst of incredible natural beauty.

The Gastein Valley is the gateway to the first peaks of Austria's central Alpine range and to the 'Hohe Tauern' national park.

Cable cars, paths and trails take you as high as 2,700 m above sea level … and of course, any number of rustic mountain huts to eat at are waiting to be discovered.
